Akihiko Murai received the B.S. degree in mechanical engineering, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in mechano-informatics from the University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan, in 2003, 2005, and 2009. He was an engineer at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries co. LTD. from 2005 to 2006, and a Research Fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science from 2009 to 2010. From 2009-2011, he worked with Disney Research, Pittsburgh as a Postdoctoral Researcher. He received the Miura Prize in 2005, the SICE Research Award and the Robotics Symposia Prize Finalist in 2009, and the ROBOMEC Prize (Robotics Mechatronics Division Annual Prize) in 2010.
His research interests include human motion analysis and simulation based on neuromusculoskeletal system, and modeling human neuromusculoskeletal system for robotics, biomechanics, sports science, and rehabilitation.
