Alexandra Delazio was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She recently graduated from the Swanson School of Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor’s degree in Bioengineering and a minor in Mechanical Engineering. Alexandra has worked with several research labs focusing on medical device development and rehabilitation technology that will improve the quality of life of others. She has been a part of teams that created apps to aid blind students’ learning, developed sensor holders for monitoring post-surgery knee-rehabilitation, developed a prosthetic ankle angle measurement system and most recently became immersed in the world of haptics and computer vision while helping to create a hand-held device that allows members of the blind population better navigate their surroundings. Alexandra is fascinated with building, machining and creating whether it be an engineering device or a piece of artwork.
