After receiving his S.B. from MIT, Dan Schmidt worked at the videogame companies Looking Glass Studios and Harmonix Music Systems, joining both organizations at an early stage and contributing code, game design, and music to such acclaimed games as Ultima Underworld, System Shock, Guitar Hero, and Rock Band. His interests include music composition and analysis, including the use of algorithms to aid the composer, and chess.
