Steven J. Stroessner is the Ann Whitney Olin Professor of Psychology at Barnard College, Columbia University, having earned his PhD in social/per­sonality psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He is an expert on cognitive, motivational, and affective factors underlying human judgment, often with a focus on the psychology of stereotyping and prejudice. In addition to publishing numerous research articles, he recently co-edited the volume, Social Perception from Individuals to Groups, and co-authored the forthcoming text, Social Cognition.
