Dr. Wojciech Jarosz was a Senior Research Scientist at Disney Research where he leads the research group on rendering. He obtained his B.S. (2003) in computer science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and his M.S. (2006) and Ph.D. (2008) from UC San Diego. After obtaining his Ph.D., Wojciech stayed at UC San Diego as a Post Doctoral Researcher before joining Disney Research in February 2009.
Wojciech’s main research interest is realistic image synthesis and his publications explore practical applications in a variety of areas in computer graphics including participating media; complex illumination and materials; global illumination; Monte Carlo methods and efficient sampling; and high-dynamic-range imaging. His work in these areas has been incorporated into production rendering systems and used in the making of movies, including Disney’s Tangled.
Wojciech was an adjunct lecturer at ETH and regularly taught and also supervised students from the bachelor’s level to the Ph.D. level. In 2009-2010 he co-lectured the Computer Graphics course at ETH, and in 2012 he began teaching a new course on Advanced Image Synthesis. He is always looking for strong, self-motivated students who are interested in working on challenging graphics-related projects.
